The weather in southern Alberta over the weekend was anything but consistent, with sub-zero temperatures in some communities, mid-teen temperatures in others, and conditions that included everything from rain, to snow, to a landspout tornado near Brooks.
The start of this week will be similar to the end of last as southern Alberta sits beneath the northern edge of a Pacific ridge.
Most of the region will experience mild conditions, above seasonal highs and plenty of sunshine.
Also similar to the end of last week – this warmth will be short-lived.

A low pressure system forming in northern Alberta will track south and east throughout over the next 48 hours, and by Tuesday night will start to flatten out that ridge.
Late Tuesday instability along that zone of transition will bring rain into central Alberta, and possibly some mixed precipitation and/or snow for the Banff-to-Calgary corridor.

Daytime highs will drop significantly from Tuesday to Wednesday and remain below seasonal until Friday.

The Easter weekend will bring more inconsistency with mixed precipitation likely to start on Saturday night, and continue through until Tuesday with daytime highs ranging from 4 C to 8 C from Sunday until Wednesday.
