Warm, clear, and windy Thursday with highs in the 20s by Saturday

Stable, warm weather expected for a while. Jodi Hughes has a look at the five-day forecast from the Sky Watch Weather Centre.

A stable weather pattern continues for southern Alberta bringing clear skies, warmer temperatures and no risk of precipitation for the end of the week.

Winds are expected to pick up throughout the day Thursday, with sustained wind speeds in Calgary around 20 km/h and gusts up to 40 km/h by the mid-afternoon.

Outside of that, conditions should remain mild, both clear and warm for Thursday and Friday.

A disruption in the upper patterns later Saturday will kick off a rapid – but short-lived – change. Variable regional impacts will include strong winds, a notable drop in temperatures, and a mix of precipitation.

In Calgary the high on Sunday is expected to be around 10 degrees cooler than Saturday.

A persistent period of above-seasonal temperatures will kick off on Monday and likely last until at least the start of May as the west sits under a strong ridge of high pressure.

Daily highs in Calgary next week are expected to range from 14 C to 23 C with lows between 1 C and 7 C.

The normal range this time of year is 13 C and 0 C.
