Heather Brent has been identified as the victim of Tuesday’s fatal hit-and-run on Stoney Trail N.W., according to court documents.
Police responded to the southbound lanes of Stoney Trail approaching the bridge deck of Nose Hill Drive around 11:50 p.m.
A white Toyota Corolla driven by Brent, 57, was travelling south when it was hit by an unknown vehicle believed to be a semi-truck with a trailer.
The unknown vehicle did not remain at the scene.
Two people travelling in a road maintenance truck were the first on the scene and provided medical aid to Brent.
Shortly after, a black Dodge Ram driven by a 21-year-old male with a 21-year-old female passenger hit a barrier in the median and collided with the woman.
The Ram then hit the road maintenance truck.
Brent was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead when she arrived.
‘The uniting bond who held her family close’
Brent, of Calgary, is being remembered as a compassionate and loving individual who cared for others.
Her obituary describes her as “the uniting bond who held her family close.”
“Often shy yet fiercely stubborn when committed to her path, her infectious laugh will be remembered by all who heard it,” her obituary said.
“She earned her RN degree from Mount Royal University ... and devoted her career to the care of the elderly.”
Brent worked in long-term care in Didsbury, then Hanna.
In her obituary, Brent’s family also thanked the road maintenance workers and first responders.
