The cold air mass moving in will stick around for the rest of the week

Get the parka ready. The coming cold air mass isn't just moving in, but is settling in and will be here for the rest of this week and much of next week, too.

The cooldown is beginning!

The cold front is swiping through, and it’s sparking up windy conditions for Calgary for the overnight hours (gusts up to 70 km/h).

The winds will ease on Wednesday to 40 km/h, but the cold air mass moving in will stick around for the rest of the week.

East of the city, it will be even gustier, with gusts up to 90 km/h.

And from Hanna to Oyen to Medicine Hat, even squall-like conditions are possible overnight, as the wind will be combined with isolated snow bands.

In Calgary this week, the coldest days will be Thursday and Friday.

Temperatures will recover a little by the weekend to the minus single digits.
