Temperatures in the high 20s for the first full day of fall

Warm weather for the first full day of autumn. Jodi Hughes has a look at the five-day forecast from the Sky Watch Weather Centre.

Tuesday started off with a beautiful sunrise and by 7 a.m. the temperature in Calgary was 17 C which is warmer than the average daytime high of 16 C.

A strong high-pressure system situated along the southern portion of Alberta, B.C. and Saskatchewan is funneling warm air in from the southwest and will produce daytime highs on Tuesday in the high 20s across southern Alberta.

This upper pattern will start to flatten Wednesday which will moderate temperatures, including in the City of Calgary.

The high on Wednesday will be 10 degrees cooler than today but still remain above seasonal.

Thursday will include a little more heat with a high of 24 C, before a week-long run of daytime highs around 20 C kicks off Friday.

Conditions will include more sunshine than cloud over the next week, with overnight lows between 6 C and 11 C compared to the normal low of 3 C.
