A Calgary teen is facing charges in connection with three cannabis store robberies over the weekend.
The first robbery happened at 13th Floor Cannabis in the 8000 block of Silver Springs Boulevard N.W. at 8:40 p.m. on Saturday, March 1.
Police say the suspect was wearing a disguise and threatened an employee with a weapon while demanding cannabis products. Afterward, he ran off on foot.
The second robbery was at Cowboys Vape & Smoke in the 4600 block of Varsity Drive N.W. at 8:25 p.m. on Sunday, March 2.
The suspect once again threatened an employee with a weapon while demanding cannabis products and fled the store on foot.
Later that night, at 9:50 p.m., police were again called to 13th Floor Cannabis for a robbery.
The suspect demanded cash and cannabis products while threatening an employee with a weapon.
“As a result of the investigation, the suspect was arrested shortly after the third robbery without incident, and a search warrant was subsequently executed at a residence in the community of Silver Springs where stolen items believed to be taken during the robberies were recovered,” police said in a Tuesday news release.
The accused, who cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with one count of robbery and two counts of robbery with a firearm.
He is scheduled to appear in court on March 24.
