Some wet weather is on its way for Thursday. Gina Martin has a look at the five-day forecast from the Sky Watch Weather Centre.

Enjoy a beautiful sunny morning in Calgary with calm winds out of the north.

Unlike Monday, we won’t see those winds ramp up in the afternoon but expect building clouds throughout the day.

However, that early sunshine will help the city reach another double-digit high of 11 C today, well surpassing the seasonal high of 6 C for this time of year.

As those clouds move in, be prepared for a chance of showers between 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Not looking like a major downpour, but you might want to keep a waterproof layer handy if you plan to be outside tonight.

The clouds won’t move much by Wednesday, we could get a few sunny breaks but that’s about it.

For a few days now an atmospheric river over the Pacific Ocean has been steered by the jet stream bringing wet weather to parts of coastal and mainland B.C., but has yet to make a significant impact here in Alberta.

That is looking to change on Thursday, as a Pacific low pressure system will alter the jet stream to redirect precipitation over southern Alberta and cool our temperatures at the same time.

So, on Thursday, be prepared for morning rain to transition into afternoon snow showers with a seasonal high of 7 C.

Modeling right now is showing those morning showers, while brief, could be pretty heavy which could pose a hazard out on the roads.

The snow showers later in the afternoon could pose the same risk on the drive home. The bulk of precipitation though is going to fall north of Calgary in parts of central Alberta like Red Deer.

Heading into the weekend, the clouds are looking to stick around and temperatures will be on the cooler side, with a high of 0 C possible for Saturday.
