Sun and snowfall expected on Wednesday

Get ready for sunshine and snowfall, Calgary.

Wednesday will start out a little chilly when heading to work and school with a wind chill around -9. There will be lots of sun for much of the day and a high of 2 C.

The clouds will roll in for the early afternoon, and the winds will pick up.

There is a small chance of a few flurries in the late afternoon, but the significant snow arrives Wednesday night and will last through Thursday.

Between three and five centimetres of snow is expected to come down on Wednesday night, with another five to 10 centimetres expected Thursday.

There will also be a lot of melting Wednesday which will freeze fast with fresh snow falling on top. That leads to very slippery roads and sidewalks.

The snowfall is expected clear out Friday morning, but another snowfall with less significant amounts will arrive Saturday.
