The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) says striking education workers in the Foothills School Division have voted to accept a new deal and will return to work on Monday.

A Friday news release says CUPE 5040 members voted 68 per cent in favour of the settlement.

The vote marks the end of the largest strike in CUPE Alberta’s history.

The provincewide strike saw about 6,600 staff hit picket lines from Fort McMurray to Calgary over a months-long wage dispute with their employers.

CUPE said Friday that details on the settlements will be released “shortly.”
