A persistent weather pattern, which includes an amplified ridge of high pressure over Western Canada will push daytime highs into the low 20s to start the week.
On Sunday, at least seven locations across Alberta set new record high temperatures – including Grande Prairie with a high of 17.9 C, and Sundre with a high of 20.1 C.

Those were not even the warmest temperatures across the province.
The hot spot in all of Canada Sunday was Brooks with a high of 21.4 C, and it is likely southern Alberta will break more records on Monday.
Light rain is possible across central and northern Alberta over the next 24 hours, associated with instability embedded in this upper pattern.

Portions of southern Alberta, including Calgary, could see light and scattered rain on Monday and Tuesday, with more intense pockets of rain north of the city.
Daytime highs will remain well above the seasonal norm of 9 C for at least the next five days, with overnight temperatures also forecast to be warmer than the average low of -4 C.
