Pedestrian hit by car in southwest Calgary recovering in hospital

Calgary police say a 31-year-old man hit by a car in the city’s southwest on Wednesday is still recovering in hospital.

He was hit in the intersection of Macleod Trail and Southland Drive S.W. at around 10:30 p.m., suffering serious, life-altering injuries.

Police say the vehicle that struck the man was a 2014 Mercedes-Benz B 250.

The driver was southbound on Macleod and heading through the intersection with Southland on a green light.

Police say the pedestrian was near the south crosswalk when he “encroached into the path” of the Mercedes-Benz.

“Impairment and excessive speed are not believed to be factors in this collision,” police said in a Thursday news release.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dash-cam footage from the area is asked to call police at 403-266-1234.
