Medicine Hat police, Alberta Sheriffs running check stop initiative

Later this week, motorists in Medicine Hat can expect to see—and possibly be pulled over for—check stops.

Local police and sheriffs in the southeast Alberta city will run a traffic safety initiative on Thursday.

In a release, the Medicine Hat Police Service said they’ll use the stops to check for:

• valid licensing;
• vehicle documentation;
• impaired driving regulations;
• seatbelt use; and
• other traffic safety requirements.

Enforcement and public education will be conducted as needed at the check stops.

“The MHPS and Alberta Sheriffs Highway Patrol remain committed to keeping roads safe for everyone,” the release said.

Thursday’s check stops will be located throughout the city.
