The Lethbridge Sport Council proudly announced its recipients on Thursday for its 15th annual achievement awards.

The awards celebrate excellence, dedication and fair play both on and off the field, honouring individuals and groups who have made a lasting impact on the local sports community over the past year.

The Lethbridge Sport Council says it is honoured to recognize achievements across several categories, including that of junior and senior athletes, coaches, volunteers, organizations and behind-the-scenes administrators who make it all possible.

“It feels really good. It’s a lot of work that I feel like I put into it ... it’s nice to get the recognition for it, but I also just really like the sport that I do and how I help out,” said Brooklyn Lynch, outstanding sport citizen award winner.

“To know that I’ve had people in my corner who have recognized me, who think it’s worthy of a celebration with the city ... it means a lot,” said Coby Iwaasa, senior male athlete award winner.

The Lethbridge Sport Council will officially hand out its achievement awards at 6 p.m. on April 9 at the Western Bank Lounge inside the VisitLethbridge.com Arena.

Tickets to the event are available online.
