Environment Canada has confirmed that a “landspout tornado” formed in southeastern Alberta Saturday.
The tornado was captured on video by Darby Lester, near Lake Newell, south of the town of Brooks.
No injuries or damage have been reported.

Environment Canada told CTV News it’s assigned the tornado a “preliminary rating” of EF0.
That’s the lowest rating on the scale, with winds usually between 105 and 137 km/h.
Environment Canada said a landspout tornado comes from the ground rather than from a thunderstorm.
It happens when there’s a considerable shift in surface winds and creates an updraft.
