The City of Lethbridge has heard from residents about what colour scheme they want in the updated improvement plan for Jock Palmer Park.
The city is planning to upgrade the park, located at 523 23 Street North with new surfacing and equipment, featuring accessible rubber protecting it to better accommodate users of all abilities.
There will be a new pathway constructed that connects to the existing pathway on the park’s west side and the sidewalk on the southeast.
The votes are in, and the colour of the new Jock Palmer Playground will be (drum roll, please... 🥁) turquoise!

Additionally, a concrete half basketball court will be built at the park to give park visitors an additional recreation opportunity.
The city undertook a survey asking the public to choose the colour scheme for the new park and city residents were able to vote at a community conversation held Jan. 29, in addition to an online survey.
The winning colour was turquoise.
Construction on the park upgrades is expected to be completed by the end of August 2025.
