Calgary Hitmen goaltender Daniel Hauser was named the Western Hockey League goaltender of the month for February and for good reason.

The 21-year-old Chestermere product is just 21 minutes and 50 seconds away from the longest string of shutout minutes in WHL history.

The old record was set by the late Chris Worthy of the Flin Flon Bombers, who didn’t give up a goal for 265 minutes and 13 seconds.

Hauser was 6-2-0-0 in February, with a 2.04 goals-against average, a .912 save percentage and three straight shutouts that are now four, thanks to a March 2 shutout.

Hauser is 15-3-0-0 with a .185 goals-against average, a .926 save percentage and five shutouts since he was acquired from the Wenatchee Wild early in January.

He is joining the NCAA’s Wisconsin Badgers when his WHL eligibility runs out.

Calgary is undefeated in its last seven games and sit second in the Central Division and third in the Eastern Conference.

Friday night, Hauser goes for the record against the Swift Current Broncos. Puck drop is 7 p.m.
