Expect another stretch of warm weather with highs of 30 C by Monday

Warm, dry weather continues in southern Alberta. Jodi Hughes has a look at the five-day forecast from the Sky Watch Weather Centre.

A strong ridge of high pressure situated in the Pacific basin will become the main weather-maker for B.C. and Alberta over the next week.

Starting on Wednesday, daytime high will gradually increase, peaking at around 30 C by early next week.

Conditions are expected to be mostly stable by the weekend, with very little precipitation forecast, which will enhance wildfire behaviour.

Westerly flow across the Prairies is pushing wildfire smoke east all the way into Quebec, while southern Alberta remains mostly unaffected by poor air quality for now.

There is a slight chance of light and scattered rain on Wednesday and again on Friday in Calgary, but accumulations should be minimal.
