Daytime highs hover around 0 C for the end of the long weekend

Seasonal temperatures, but cooler than last year. Jodi Hughes has a look at the five-day forecast from the Sky Watch Weather Centre.

Cooler air started to funnel into southern Alberta overnight as a low-pressure system moved from the Northwest Territories toward the southern B.C. border.

As expected, precipitation tracked from the northern Rockies toward the capital region Tuesday night and early Wednesday, with a light and brief rain shower around Calgary before the morning commute.

Stronger north winds accompanied this shift in the upper pattern and north wind will be a part of the weather story for most of Wednesday – although those winds will be less intense by the afternoon.

Daytime highs in southern Alberta will sit in the teens for the next few days before a large complex low (a system with multiple low-pressure centres) covers the west.

The daily high in Calgary on Sunday will be 14 degrees colder than Saturday’s high.

Rain will transition into snow over as those temperatures drop and visibility will likely be impacted as strong north winds are expected at the same time.

The normal range of temperatures in Calgary this time of the year include highs of 14 C and lows above 0 C.
