The Calgary police want residents to be aware of a new scam involving fraudsters who pretend to be police officers over the phone.
Police have received a number of complaints about an unknown individual who claims to be a police officer who asks for financial information or asks the caller to send them money.
It’s believed that the calls show up on people’s caller ID as Calgary Police Service, but the calls aren’t coming from within the organization.
Police advise that it’s not them. If you get one of these calls, hang up. The Calgary police will never call and ask for financial information or for money.
