Calgary man charged with fraud, theft in $2.6-million-plus fraud investigation

Charges have been laid against a Calgary man in connection with a $2.6-million-plus fraud investigation.

Police announced the charges on Thursday.

According to police, “It is believed an employee of a local retailer forged a series of cheques” between 2012 and 2018.

The cheques totalled “more than $2.6 million,” police said.

Police said the employee “worked in an accounting capacity” and “had direct access to bank accounts and information.”

Police charged Robert Bischke, 53, with fraud over $5,000 and theft over $5,000.
