Alberta Sheriffs have cracked down on a problem property in Innisfail, saying police were frequently called to the spot over complaints about drug activity.
The Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods unit (SCAN) was granted a court order against the owner of 4127 49A Ave.
The court order forces the home to be closed for 90 days starting on March 11.
The property will be boarded up and fenced off, and all the locks will be changed, preventing anyone from going inside until the order expires on June 9.
Innisfail RCMP attended the property 53 times between February 2022 and July 2024.
“The closure of this drug house in Innisfail reflects our dedication to the safety and well-being of Albertans,” said Mike Ellis, minister of public safety and emergency services, in a Tuesday news release.
“SCAN’s closure of this notorious property is a huge win for the residents of Innisfail.”
Since its inception in 2008, the SCAN unit has investigated more than 10,000 properties and has issued 131 community safety orders.
