Alberta’s government has announced investments in infrastructure, including a big boost to support a major roads project in the southern region.
The province will spend $106 million for the twinning of Highway 3 between Taber and east of Burdett.

Work on the 46-kilometre section involves upgrading the existing two-lane highway to a divided four lanes to enhance safety and efficiency in the area.
Ledcor Highways Limited began minor bridge work back in winter 2023, before active construction began last spring.
The work will be done in phases and is expected to be fully completed within the next three years.
Anywhere from 3,000 to 5,000 vehicles drive on this highway each day.
“As Alberta grows, so does the need for safe, reliable and effective infrastructure to support communities across the province, to attract investment and boost economic development,” said Devin Dreeshen, Alberta’s transportation minister.
If passed, Alberta’s 2025 budget plans to invest more than $8.5 billion for the Ministry of Transportation’s three-year capital plan.
That includes more than $4 billion to benefit rural communities across the province.
