Lethbridge police say a 36-year-old man is facing charges in connection to an incident last week that prompted officials to search Henderson Lake.
Police were called to the 600 block of Mayor Magrath Drive South just after 7 p.m. on June 2 for reports of an assault.
The victim told officers he was confronted by a man in a military-style vest with a handgun, who attacked himwith a baton.
Police located a suspect at Henderson Lake, where they allege he had ditched some of the items he had been carrying.
Officers took the man into custody and members of the Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services dive team were able to recover a pellet gun from the water.
The accused, who is from Airdrie, is charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a controlled substance, resisting a peace officer, failure to comply with a release order and two counts of possession of a prohibited firearm.
