Lethbridge police say one man is facing charges after a “high-risk incident” over the weekend.

Officers were called to a home in the 900 block of 14 Street South just before 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 6 for reports of a man with a firearm who had threatened to shoot an acquaintance.

Residents in neighbouring homes were directed to shelter in place as a precaution.

Police say the suspect came out of the house but wasn’t complying with police commands.

“Officers deployed several sock rounds and a conducted energy weapon before the male was taken into custody,” police said in a Tuesday news release.

The man was assessed by EMS at the scene before being taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators searched the home and seized a shotgun and ammunition.

Police also found that the shotgun had been discharged inside the home.

A 69-year-old Lethbridge man is charged with several offences.

He was released from custody with numerous bail conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on May 1.
