Teens facing charges after serious altercation in Tottenham parking lot

Police in New Tecumseth have laid multiple charges against two people following a serious altercation in a Tottenham parking lot.

On Wednesday, shortly after 12 p.m., officers responded to reports of a disturbance in a business parking lot on Queen Street North. When police arrived on scene, they observed a large group of students gathered and noticed several damaged vehicles.

An investigation, supported by video surveillance revealed that an altercation had occurred involving three vehicles; an Acura, an Audi, and a Volkswagen.

The incident escalated when the driver of a blue Acura allegedly struck the passenger side of a black Audi, injuring one person who was later taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

Police say the Acura allegedly continued to drive recklessly through the parking lot, striking a second vehicle with another driver inside.

The 16-year-old suspect fled the scene in the Acura but later turned himself in to police.

As a result of the investigation, a 19-year-old and 16-year-old have both been charged with dangerous operation, failure to stop after an accident along with a plethora of other charges.
