Police appeal for more victims in sexual assault case

An employee of a long-term care facility in Penetanguishene is facing sex-assault charges and police say they're concerned there could be more.

Police are appealing to the public after a person was sexually assaulted at a long-term care facility.

Police say the investigation began March 29 at the Penetanguishene residence where the victim was sexually assaulted by an employee.

Police stress the complaint does not involve a resident at the facility.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigating the crime were assisted by the OPP’s Major Crime Unit when they arrested a 28-year-old Midland individual, who was charged with two counts of sexual assault.

The accused was released to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on May 15.

The OPP are concerned there may be more victims as the accused was also an employee of a health care facility in Midland.

Police say the involved health-care facilities are aware of the allegations and expected to take appropriate actions.

There is no statute of limitations on sexual offences and a report can be made to police at any time, regardless of how much time has passed.
