Orillia, Ont. man accused of driving while prohibited charged with dangerous driving causing death of couple

An Orillia man is accused of dangerous driving causing the deaths of a Midland couple after a head-on crash last month.

An Orillia, Ont. man is behind bars, accused of dangerous driving causing death in a crash last month in Elmvale that killed a Midland couple with deep roots in the community.

Spencer Fulton, 30, appeared in a virtual Barrie courtroom from jail in Penetanguishene Tuesday, about a month after provincial police charged him with dangerous driving causing the deaths of Larry and Linda King in a head-on three-vehicle crash.

The Kings were great-grandparents with deep roots in Southern Georgian Bay.

According to police, the crash happened February 8 just before noon along County Road 27 between Baseline Road and Flos Road 11 East.

Investigators said, at the time, two others were sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and another person was taken to a trauma centre in Toronto.

Authorities said the county road was closed for the entire day as the Ontario Provincial Police crash reconstruction unit worked to figure out what happened.

Fulton was charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing death following the investigation. According to court records obtained by CTV News, Fulton also has about a dozen counts of driving while prohibited.

He behind bars ahead of his next appearance in early April. The allegations against Fulton have not been tested in court.
