Nasty weather forces school bus cancellations

High winds have forced the school buses to be cancelled in some areas.

Icy road conditions and blowing snow across central Ontario has forced school bus cancellations on Tuesday across the region.

Drifting snow during the early morning hours left sections of roads buried under the white stuff, and strong winds have created icy conditions on many county roads.

As a result, several school buses have been cancelled.

• All buses and vans in Simcoe County are cancelled on Tuesday due to poor driving conditions.
• Trillium Lakelands District School Board cancelled its school vehicles due to heavy drifting and poor road conditions. The good news is that students can cram in one more day of studying. Secondary school exams scheduled for today will be moved forward by one school day.
• School buses in Flesherton, Markdale, Meaford, Thornbury and Owen Sound are also not running today.
