Multiple places remain under state of emergency following historic late-March storm

Several communities across the region remain under a state of emergency following the late-March ice storm that swept through the area causing a ruckus.

The City of Orillia declared a state of emergency on March 30, which remains in effect as of April 7.

The District of Muskoka first declared a significant weather event on March 29, upgrading to a full state of emergency on March 30. As of April 4, the declaration remains in place.

Minden Hills declared a state of emergency on April 2, which continues to be in effect, Monday.

Oro-Medonte initially declared a significant weather event on March 28, escalating to a state of emergency on March 30. That declaration also remains in place.

Rama First Nation, Ramara, and Severn each declared states of emergency between March 30 and April 2, and all remain active as of Monday.

Simcoe County declared an emergency by County Warden Basil Clarke on April 2, acknowledging the widespread impacts across the region’s municipalities. That declaration also remains in effect.
