An Orillia man is facing a half-dozen charges after an alleged assault and impaired driving incident in Ramara Township Thursday evening.
According to Orillia OPP, officers responded to a disturbance at around 9:15 p.m. in Brechin.
Police say it was reported that a man was leaving the home impaired after assaulting and threatening another individual.
Officers then located the vehicle and suspect on Highway 12 near Muley Point Road, where police say it was quickly determined that the driver was impaired.
The 50-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with operation while impaired – by alcohol and drugs and blood alcohol concentration over 80 – assault, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and two counts of mischief over $5,000.
The accused is scheduled for a court date in April. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
