Local business would’ve ‘covered the tab’ if Leafs won Game 7

The Toronto Maple Leafs blowout loss to the Florida Panthers in Sunday’s Game 7 might have saved the owner of a Barrie business a lot of money.

Emil Kamel, owner of North Swing Golf Lounge and a diehard Leafs fan, said he would have personally covered everyone’s tab at his establishment if the Leafs had won.

The business announced the promotion on their Instagram page.

“I want[ed] it to be a celebratory moment,” said Kamel in a phone call with CTV News prior to Sunday’s do-or-die matchup. “I’m a diehard Leafs fan.”

Instead, the Leafs lost 6-1 for their sixth consecutive defeat in a Game 7, while the Panthers will face the Carolina Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference Final.
