Licence suspended and car impounded for Essa Twp. man

OPP have released new signage about their concerns regarding drinking and driving.

A man who was witnessed driving erratically was pulled over by police in Alliston.

After observing the car attempting stay in its lane, and then trying to make a left turn on a red light at Victoria Street East and County Road 10, police pulled car over at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say the driver showed signs of the impairment, including delayed response to the officer and was swaying and unsteady on his feet.

At 8:52 p.m. a the 30-year-old Essa man was arrested and charged with impaired.

At the station, after providing one breath sample, the Essa man refused to perform another and at 10:57 p.m. he was charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand.

In addition to the charges, the driver was issued a 90-day license suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Bradford on April 10 to answer to the charges.
