Georgian College hosted the annual ‘AutoHACK’ competition on Friday and Saturday, where 150 postsecondary students from across Ontario gathered to tackle challenges in the automotive sector.
The students worked alongside industry leaders, mentors and top executives across the country. They took part in workshops that pushed them to innovate in smart manufacturing, automation, artificial intelligence (AI), and next-generation technologies.
“Students are here for 27 hours to solve a challenge, come up with ideas, ideate around a certain topic, they [pitch] it at the end of the 27 hours and in a competition format and we are going to award a winner,” said Mira Ray, executive director of research and innovation and entrepreneurship at Georgian College.
Awards were handed out on Saturday with the winners earning prizes valued at nearly $5,000.
