A gas leak has shut down a road in Springwater Township on Friday afternoon. The Township says Finlay Mill Road is closed between Bayfield Street and Wattie Road. The gas leak was discovered during road work, according to staff at the township. According to Enbridge Gas, 50 to 60 customers are without gas, however, it’s expected most residents will get their gas back on by Friday night. Enbridge says its crews were able to get to the area quickly and isolate the damaged section of the two-inch gas main. It is unknown the volume of gas that was released. Some public services are affected due to the closure like the Midhurst Branch of the Springwater Public Library is closed. Officials say to avoid the area and not to approach the construction zone. They say to follow posted signage and use alternate routes.
