Police working the case of a missing man from the Southampton area have released new images in hopes someone provides a clue as to what happened to the 32-year-old who disappeared nearly two months ago.

Investigators say Brendan Martin was last seen in the early morning hours on January 18 in Southampton. They say extensive searches were unsuccessful in locating him, noting they are concerned for his well-being.

Along with Southampton, Martin has ties to Barrie, Owen Sound and Saugeen Shores First Nation.

Now that the heavy snow and ice are starting to melt, police urge residents to thoroughly check their properties, including sheds or outbuildings, for any signs of Martin or his belongings, including a guitar and backpack, which are also missing.

Martin is described as an Indigenous man, six feet all, with a thin build, brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black and navy winter coat and Timberland-style boots.

Police say foul play has not been ruled out in Martin’s disappearance, and as a result, the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch is now overseeing the case.

They ask anyone with information on Martin’s whereabouts to contact the authorities or Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous.
