Firefighters responded to an early morning blaze at an apartment building on Muskoka Road North in Gravenhurst on Friday that displaced several residents.

Crews from three stations, with 20 firefighters and seven fire vehicles, arrived at the scene to find flames and smoke coming from a third-floor balcony.

Firefighters acted quickly to prevent the fire from spreading beyond the unit. The fire was contained to the one apartment and parts of the roof structure. No injuries were reported, and officials don’t believe the fire to be suspicious.

Before residents can return, an engineer will need to inspect the building’s structural integrity, along with assessments of the electrical components and fire alarm system.

Muskoka Victim Services is working with the building’s owners to support the affected tenants, officials told CTV News. Firefighters remained at the scene to assist residents retrieving essential items before clearing the area around 11 a.m.

No damage estimate or insurance details have been released.
