A 54-year-old man from Coldwater is facing an impaired driving charge after police at a R.I.D.E. checkpoint in Oro-Medonte said he failed a roadside test.

Officers were holding the R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) spot check on Bass Lake Side Road at Line 6 Thursday around 5:30 p.m. when the man’s vehicle entered. Police said they were screening every driver that came through the checkpoint, and alleged this motorist registered a fail on the approved screening device.

Provincial police posted a photo to social media of the vehicle pulled over to the side of the road with several cans and bottles of alcohol on the roof.

The impaired driving charge comes with an automatic 90-day licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
