If it’s wet now, it will be frozen later.
That’s the message Environment Canada announced when it issued a Flash Freeze warning early Wednesday morning.
“Temperatures are forecast to fall rapidly. Ponding water, slush, and any falling precipitation will freeze as the temperature drops,” the weather warning states.
The flash freeze is expected hit central Ontario near midday, causing icy and slippery conditions on highways, roads, walkways and parking lots.

In addition to the freezing weather warning, parts of our region will also be hit with snow and blowing snow on the roadways.
The national weather agency expected meager snowfalls in the amounts of 5 to 10 centimetres, but a northwesterly wind could gust up to 70 kilometres-per-hour.
Visibility will be near zero at times, especially over exposed areas, such as highways and county roads without tree buffers.
The environment agency suggests postponing travel until conditions improve.
