Tractor-trailer fire on Highway 11 in Oro-Medonte quickly extinguished

Crews quickly extinguished a fire that broke out in the tire of a transport truck on Highway 11.

Southbound traffic on Highway 11 in Oro-Medonte was slowed Wednesday morning due to a transport truck fire just north of Line 10.

Officials tell CTV News the big rig’s tire caught on fire and the flames spread to the body of the truck by the time fire crews and police arrived at the scene.

The truck, which was hauling gravel, was pulled off to the shoulder of the highway and crews quickly extinguished the blaze.

The area was closed several hours for the cleanup. It has since reopened.

No injuries were reported. There’s no word on the cause of the fire.
