Bumps, potholes, and cracks: let’s discuss worst roads in Simcoe County

Published:

To help pinpoint the worst roads in the province the CAA is back with it’s Worst Road Campaign, where people can identity bad roads in their city or town.

It’s a busy time of year at local vehicle repair shops across the region. Staff at Bolt’s Auto located in Orillia say many drivers are falling victim to bad road conditions after a tough winter.

“Things are so expensive, lately parts are no different than going to the grocery store...everything is just astronomically priced,” shared John Bolt of Bolt’s Auto Owner.

Those bumps, crack’s and potholes are pretty much everywhere right across the county.

“Those are just disastrous honestly, it’s just breaking down the vehicle and it’s really severe this year,” shared one local that frequents the area.

To help pinpoint the worst roads in the province the CAA is back with it’s Worst Road Campaign, where people can identity bad roads in their city or town.

“We really want to use this campaign as an opportunity to have their frustrations heard so that decision makers on the municipal and provincial level have an idea of what roads need attention,” shared Brian Pirvu with CAA.

“There’s a lot of bad roads out there in Orillia and on Highway 11, Highway 11 is very bad,” said a resident from the area.

The survey is asking drivers to not only consider the condition of the road by traffic flow and road closures.

“We really want to paint a picture and a snapshot to decision makers in terms of what are the main concerns in hope of advocating for that infrastructure funding,” said Pirvu.

The campaign allows anyone to nominate any road at any time. You can do so until April., 18, CAA says it will release its results shortly after that.
