Barrie resident waterfront permits to remain in effect for longer

Barrie residents can relax and enjoy the city’s plethora of waterfront areas knowing their waterfront parking permits will be valid for even longer than expected.

There’s no need for a renewal process on the HotSpot app or a trip to Barrie City Hall because the City has extended the permits to Dec. 31, 2028.

Residents with a digital waterfront permit can park for free at the following locations, with easy access to many of Barrie’s beaches:

• Centennial Boat Launch *parking for vehicles with trailers only
• Centennial Beach Lot
• Johnson’s Beach Lot
• Minet’s Point Lot
• General John Hayter Southshore Community Centre Lot
• Tiffin Boat Launch *parking for vehicles with trailers only
• Tyndale Park Lot
• Will Dwyer Park Lot
• Lakeshore Drive between Simcoe Street and Minet’s Point Road.

The resident digital waterfront permits are free for Barrie residents.

Any permits issued between 2022 and 2028 will be in effect until that expiry date.

The permits were previously set to expire at the end of this year.

People who visit from outside of Barrie can purchase a non-resident waterfront permit for $150, valid for one calendar year. Any of those permits issued this year will expire Dec. 31, 2026.

For people who are residents and don’t yet have a resident digital waterfront permit, they can apply either in person at Service Barrie at City Hall or community centres—including the Peggy Hill Team Community Centre and the East Bayfield Community Centre—or digitally through the HotSpot app.
