Barrie Legion salutes veterans on VE Day

The Barrie Legion has set up flags honouring local veterans who served in the Second World War

The Barrie Legion is once again honouring local veterans with flag banners along their building.

The occasion marks the 81st Anniversary of the end of the Second World War.

May 8 is known as Victory in Europe Day (VE Day).

Barrie Legion fundraised the flagpoles and banners to salute both veterans and Fallen of the Second World War.

The legion will also hold a parade and ceremony at the cenotaph located at their Barrie location on Saturday June 6 marking the 82nd Anniversary of the Second World War Allied Nation Normandy, France invasion known as D-Day.
