On Saturday night, the Barrie Curling Club was full of community, competitiveness, camaraderie and provincial champions.
Prior to the evening’s intense gold-medal matches, the club took the time to honour ‘Team Sherry Middaugh’ for their victory at the 2025 Ontario Women’s Senior Curling Championship.
The Championship event took place back in March. Team Sherry Middaugh won 9-3 against Team Jo-Ann Rizzo at The Mississauga Golf and Country Club.
The winning team, has made 18 national appearances, according to the curling club. Spanning the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Olympic Trials, and Seniors.
Representing the victorious quad was Skip Sherry Middaugh, Karri-Lee Grant, Melissa Foster, and Jane Hooper-Perroud, with coach Wayne Middaugh.
Hooper-Perroud and Wayne Middaugh are both former world champions. While, Grant is an eight-time provincial champ, according to the club. Teammate Foster has competed in ten provincial championships, once named a ‘national-level all-star’, shared members.
Following the very special ceremony, the club hosted its gold-medal matches for the women’s, men’s, seniors, social, and open leagues.
The Barrie Curling Club is located off Essa Road in Barrie and consists of people who love to curl, some more competitively and some recreationally.
“Many of us consider fellow members to be great friends and have shared some of the best times of our lives at leagues, bonspiels and the lounge of the Barrie Curling Club,” shared members online.
