Police say a collision involving more than two dozen vehicles on Highway 12 in Ramara Township Thursday afternoon was caused by the weather.
According to provincial police, the crash happened on Highway 12 south of Brechin just before 1 p.m. between Concession 1 and Concession 3.
Emergency crews, including Simcoe County paramedics and Ramara firefighters, attended the scene.
“The driving conditions at the time saw high winds causing white outs from blowing snow,” OPP stated.
Paramedics tell CTV News four people were transported to the hospital to be treated for injuries that were described as non-life-threatening.
The area has since reopened.
Police urge motorists to avoid the area and postpone travel if possible until conditions improve. For those who must be on the roads, police say to turn on your vehicle’s headlights in hazardous weather where visibility is reduced.
