Twenty-five community members in Simcoe-Grey were awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medals at a ceremony in Alliston.

More than two dozen Simcoe-Grey residents were awarded with the King Charles III Coronation Medal at a ceremony in Alliston.

Simcoe-Grey MP Terry Dowdall and MPP Brian Saunderson presented the medals to 25 recipients at the Nottawasaga Inn Tuesday morning.

“I am proud to recognize the dedication of these 25 eminent citizens to their community, to their fellow citizens, and to Canada with this once-in-a-lifetime achievement,” stated Dowdall.

“Their contributions and credentials are only bettered by their character. Each person receiving a medal today went above and beyond to make our riding and country a better place,” added Saunderson. “It’s a privilege to take part in this ceremony, which I’m sure each deserving recipient will remember for the rest of their life.”

Coronation medals are bestowed to those who have made significant contributions to their community, province, and country, or who have made an outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada. The medals are manufactured by the Royal Canadian Mint and are struck in nickel-silver and lacquered to prevent tarnishing.
