Charges have been laid following an investigation into contributions made last year to Prince Edward Island’s governing Progressive Conservative party. Robert Larsen, the party’s president, said earlier this month that Elections P.E.I. had flagged three issues with the organization’s 2025 contributions. Elections P.E.I. referred the investigation to police in late August. Police say an official agent of the party is now facing 42 charges under the Election Expenses Act. “The offences are centered around donations made to the Prince Edward Island Progressive Conservative Party in 2025 that were made in contravention of the Election Expenses Act or not reported in accordance with the Election Expenses Act,” reads an RCMP news release. Police say the charges could carry a maximum penalty of $1,000 fine for each offence. The unnamed accused is scheduled to appear in Charlottetown provincial court on Oct. 29.
