Halifax Harbour Bridges (HHB) is advising drivers about temporary lane closures on the A. Murray MacKay Bridge Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
The closure is connected to the removal of tolls on the two Halifax bridges, a promise made by Premier Tim Houston in his 2024 election campaign.
Halifax drivers experienced their first toll-free crossings of the Angus L. Macdonald and A. Murray MacKay bridges on Monday morning.
HHB says the Wednesday night closures are necessary to facilitate work in the toll plaza area.
All Halifax-bound lanes will be closed from 9:30 p.m. Wednesday to 1 a.m. Thursday. All Dartmouth-bound lanes will be closed from 1 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. Thursday.
“During these times, drivers must use alternate routes. Commercial vehicles are reminded that they are not permitted to travel on the Angus L. Macdonald Bridge,” reads a news release from Halifax Harbour Bridges.
