A unique nature experience is drawing guests from around the world to Truro, N.S.
Seek Wilderness Accommodations is located in the upper part of Victoria Park in downtown Truro. Visitors can choose from five luxury repurposed shipping container cabins and two yurts for a relaxing getaway.

“They (the shipping container cabins) really are essentially exactly like our home. They sit on a foundation, the exact same as your house. They’re all insulated, they have bathrooms, running water, electricity, so they’re all heated. They have kitchenettes inside, barbeques outside. They’re very luxurious, it’s not any hardcore glamping or camping happening,” said Miriah Kearney, founder of Seek Wilderness Accommodations during an interview on CTV Atlantic Morning Live.
Kearney says Seek Wilderness is an eco-friendly property, using sustainable building materials.
She says the yurts have woodstoves inside and heated mattress pads for extra comfort.

Victoria Park
Located inside one of Canada’s largest municipal parks, Seek is surrounded by more than 3,000 acres, with over 75 kilometres of groomed trails to explore during your stay.

“It’s a multi-purpose park, so we’ve got biking trails that are operational almost year-round. In the wintertime, there is snowshoeing, cross country skiing, sled skiing, and of course, hiking year-round,” Kearney says.
“It’s a very family-friendly park. There’s really trails for everybody and every type of activity. And something very unique to Victoria Park is it is groomed and opened 12 months of the year.”
Kearney says spring is an ideal time for waterfall chasing in the region – another adventure that can be enjoyed inside Victoria Park.

Early bookings
The family-owned business is already seeing reservations for the summer, providing hope for a busy tourism season.
“This year is really popular. We’re seeing a lot of summer bookings come in earlier,” she says.
“They are from local Maritime travellers that we call our ‘staycationers,’ but then we’re seeing a lot of people from Ontario and a lot of people coming from Europe, from Ireland, Germany, England, and so on and so forth. So, I think it’s going to be a very busy season for tourism here in the Maritimes.”
