Police looking for witnesses after assault leaves man with serious injuries in Eskasoni

The Nova Scotia RCMP is looking for witnesses after a serious assault in Eskasoni early Saturday morning.

Police responded to a report of an injured man lying on the road near the intersection of Mickeys Lane and Shore Road around 12:30 a.m.

“Officers learned that the man was walking home after attending a gathering when he became involved in an altercation with individuals known to him. The altercation escalated, resulting in a serious assault,” reads an RCMP news release.

The 39-year-old victim was taken to hospital by EHS with serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries.

Police believe there were witnesses in the area at the time of the assault and are trying to identify those involved.
