Award-winning singer-songwriter Christina Martin’s new album “The Essentials” celebrates nearly two decades of work.

The Nova Scotia artist’s 20-track compilation is a curated collection of songs that she says have “become the backbone” of her live performances.

“The Essentials captures Martin at her most raw, powerful, and unfiltered - from fierce to fragile, tender to defiant. The collection honours a long road of independence, artistry, and personal healing,” reads a news release about the album.

“The Essentials” is exclusively available on Bandcamp, an online music distribution platform, and features her new single “The Breeze,” which was co-written by her longtime creative partner, producer and musician Dale Murray.

“The track offers a glimpse into the next chapter of Martin’s songwriting, shaped by resilience, reflection, and a deeper sense of peace,” reads the release.

In addition to “The Breeze,” the compilation includes tracks like “Storm,” “Golden Tears,” “Water It,” and “Two Hearts.”

“This collection really tells the story of my life pursuing a passion while working through the tough stuff life throws at you” says Martin. “These songs carried me through different seasons on stage, on the road, and at home - and I wanted to honour that journey with Dale while opening the door to what’s coming next.”

Martin has upcoming shows at home and abroad this spring, with performances scheduled in Germany and at the Summerside Shipyard Songwriters Series on May 29.
